I bought an X-T20 while I was halfway through the photography specialization on Coursera. It’s put together by Michigan State University.

Photography Basics and Beyond

I can not recommend this program enough. It’s 5 classes. It took a couple of months, couple hours a week. I went from knowing nothing to selling some photos at my first showing. It sparked a fire that will surely be a lifetime love of photography.

I paid $50 a month and got a certificate, but I’m 99% sure you can do it for free.

Do a course. I know all the info is out there on different pages and youtube channels, and that's awesome if you're looking for something specific, but your post sounds like you don't actually know where to start learning.

There is /r/photoclass2021 and I think you should be able to audit this course on coursera for free.

If you don't mind investing a few hours, I would just do the first few courses of this Coursera specialisation here (free if you are not pursuing a certificate):

https://www.coursera.org/specializations/photography-basics

Will give you much better foundations than starting to watch Youtube videos (IMO). Once you get the basics, you will get much more out of watching those anyways :)

Edit: This is assuming you are new to manual controls, exposure triangle etc.

Have fun with it! It sounds like one of your primary uses will be candid snapshots. Consider getting used to carrying it around routinely. Making it a natural extension of yourself will help you capture the moments that you will cherish for years (and your daughter will thank you later). Also, check out the useful (and free!) Coursera beginner's course: https://www.coursera.org/specializations/photography-basics Ultimately, though, just take LOTS of photos and reflect on why some seem to come out better than others. Enjoy!
