I am a behavioral economist at a large insurance firm, consultant in a past life. I trained in Behavioral Science (grad school) and keep learning through Coursera and other online lectures. I design, test, and deploy behavioral interventions in a digital setting to help customers get the right types of coverage for their risk profile. There's a handful of insights related duties that I assume as well.
There are great resources on Coursera if you're interested in learning more. I recommend this course as a start: https://www.coursera.org/learn/norms. Be on the lookout for classes related to stats, experimental theory, and user experience design (if you have an interest in digital interventions). Don't be afraid to go on Google Scholar and read articles on lab experiments or field studies. You'll never stop learning, even when you make the switch to applied behavioral economics.
Happy to answer additional questions. Good luck!
