Nooo, don’t be embarrassed, like so much else, we’re not supposed to learn this about our history. No joke, I didn’t learn about it to this extent until I took a free Coursera class called From Freedom Rides to Ferguson. Even learning about how they used peace as a weapon, not as a passive tool - it changed my world. If I had been taught this in school growing up I would have been a different person.
