University of Alberta online course - Mountains 101

Just a reminder, this was posted on here many months ago. It's free to sign up for the course, and probably of interest to a lot of newer people on this sub or anyone really. Should be interesting.

Mountains MOOC. A well-rated MOOC that I thought could be interesting to this sub.

For the academically minded...

Mountains 101!

It's an online coursera course that you can audit for free. I just did the first week of coursework (mostly videos, an interactive map lesson, and a quiz), and it seems pretty interesting. For instance, do you know the difference between Elevation, Height, and Altitude? I didn't.

I'm sitting at home when I was supposed to be 3 days into a 15 day solo hiking trip so I definitely get the "theresick" feels. Covid really put a wrench in things. "Sad face*

Now, not that you asked, but these are some links I have for courses etc that may give you some ideas. Southern Ontario can be a little void of options but they are out here... :)

know someone that loved their Ottawa course

no experience but they talk the talk

not canoe but... so cool! ^literally

mostly private groups, lots of options
